instant: blocking

This tab renders a short-stale cached scope with no boundary above it. It builds, it prerenders, and it is still not an instant navigation.

Nothing here is a mistake in the usual sense. There is no uncached fetch, no missing await and no runtime API. The problem is a cache lifetime that is too short to be worth prefetching.

What to check

In dev. Run pnpm dev, then navigate to this tab. The error overlay raises an insight naming the component and offering two fixes: cache it for longer, or wrap it in <Suspense>.

In a build. Click into this tab from another one and watch the pending dot next to the nav link. It appears here and not on the clean tab.

Confirm the cause. The panel below is absent from this route's prefetched shell. Compare against /instant/clean, whose only difference is a stale time of 10 minutes instead of 60 seconds.

The offending panel

probe-no-shell — 60s stale, no boundary

use cache

probe-no-shell

ran at exec 4859pjage …

probe 887,822

Prerendered, shared and cached, but excluded from the App Shell because 60s is under the 5 minute threshold. That is what makes the navigation wait.
